I didn’t get as much done today as I’d hoped but I did make progress and I’m still way ahead of my targets. What’s nice it that when I tried NaNoWriMo previously, in November, my project had already fallen flat. Though I’m only working on a short story, I’m writing something very different to what I normally write. It’s a whole other genre and I’m taking a new approach to my writing too, trying consciously to develop certain techniques while moving away from others.
Daily Summary
Words written: 3596/5,000 (+409 words)
Goal words needed: 64/day to finish on time
Difference: 1736 ahead of schedule
Time spent writing: Unknown. I’ve not been timing at all closely, just snatching a few sentences here and there all day
Tips: Some days writing is easy and the words will come fast. Some days, it’s exceptionally hard and you might not get where you want to no matter how many hours you put in. Expect that some days you will be able to produce more than on others. Writing often comes in fits and starts. As long as you are putting in the time and effort on a regular and consistent basis you will make progress. Moving forward a little is better than not moving forward at all. That’s what I’ve done today.
