Lately, I’ve been feeling stuck. When I first set out, I envisioned writing every day but it’s taken me several days to get back to the story once again. After a strong start and a sagging middle I didn’t know how to end my short story. Yesterday I sat down and wrote doggedly. The words didn’t come easily and progress was slow. I spent most of the day and almost the entire evening plugging away at it until finally I did it.
I crossed over the 5,000 word threshold.
Woohoo! I’ve completed my goal for camp NaNoWrimo, with days to spare. That feels great in itself but there’s still more work to be done. I’ve revised 8 of 11 pages of the story, so I need to finish doing that. Even after that’s done there may be more work needed to further tighten up the story and make sure it’s an interesting and compelling read from start to finish. I plan to finish doing the first revision today and then run the work by some beta readers to get some constructive feedback. I already have plans in mind for a follow up story.
